Tool #2. Discover the hidden treasure in you!
I love the legal profession. Notice, I said the profession and not the legal system. Our legal system desires some work, in my opinion. Nevertheless, I love the law (If followed equal justice for all),  It is designed to provide structured rules to govern the behaviors of us, society. These set of rules are imposed by a burden of penalties, if one does not adhere. Well, I say all that to say, my mission is to help govern behaviors of people whom sought my guidance. Their burden of penalties would be to stay in an unproductive stalemate, never tapping into just how valuable they actually are to the world. My “motto” is we all have the ability to solve our own issues, problems, and short-comings. We just need someone to help us pull-out what is suppressed deep down like a hidden treasure. I further explain it as one driving down a long dirt road.
The night before, it was a torrential storm The high speed winds and run-off caused deep holes in the muddy ground The wet leaves and broken tree branches covered up the sunken holes.  As you were driving making your way to an appointment, BLAM! your front tired dipped in the hole, and your car was stuck You revved the engine and the spinning tire emerged deeper and deeper. What are you going to do? Image, your cell phone has no reception, there is no houses in sight, the road is long, and worst of all, it is getting dark. With no help in sight, most likely you will become frustrated and give up. This is what happens when we are faced with real life situations. We give-up! Why? because we can't see a way out, we stopped before we searched in-depth for a solution. Most of the time, it is easier to cave in than to keep digging. So, we fall short.
Just when you thought it was over, here comes a car. The knight in shinning armor gets out to assist you. He tells you to only give the car a little gas as he gently rocks it. Back and forward five to six times, he is rocking, holding on to your door.  You are gently gassing. with your foot on the ground helping him rock. Finally, the car jumps out of the hole. How awesome is that? You are out!  He helped you find the hidden treasure in you, which was to try another alternative of escape. You told yourself, if you had not given-up, and thought hard, you probably could have put your foot on the ground, gently rocked the car, as you gently gave it gas yourself.  The solution was already buried inside of you. You just needed someone to help pull it out.
IF WE HID SOMETHING, ISN’T IT HIDDEN FOR A REASON? IF WE ALLOW OURSELVES TO SUPPRESS FEELINGS,  AREN'T THEY SUPPRESSED FOR A REASON?  ONCE WE FIND A TREASURE, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. WE SHOULD HOLD ON TO THAT TREASURE AND EMBRACE IT FOR LIFE.  HOW CAN WE DEFINE HURT AND PAIN AS A BEAUTIFUL TREASURE? ANY TIME WE DISCOVER SELF-AWARENESS TO PROMOTE POSITIVE SELF-CHANGE,  WE UNCOVER A WONDERFUL TREASURE THAT WAS HIDDEN INSIDE OF US.

This blog is to encourage, promote self-awareness, increase effective communication proficiency, and to assist in developing self-empowerment tools in order to ascertain and maintain a better you.

Here is a portion of my story and how I acknowledge the importance of applying daily self-care and recognized the crucial necessity to it.  Walk with me on my journey of self-healing, self-discovery and self- rejuvenation, as I present “TEN” tools to help YOU conclude it is time to look in your full length mirror and Do This for You! Empower Yourself! Let’s go!

What do you call a woman who has spend most of her life empowering others, but did not identifying the need to empower herself? Give up? You call that woman, me, Christine L. Williams. Yes, after years of being in the human service profession helping, encouraging, and empowering others, I could not distinguish the importance to “EMPOWER MYSELF.”  I prided myself in being a caregiver to every person that looked my way, walked in my office, and needed my shoulder/ear. Whether it was in church, school, social, professional, or personal I was a co-dependent being. After years of finally opening my eyes, looking in the full length mirror, crying many tears, making numerous mistakes, and beating myself up, and living with self-unforgiveness. Suddenly, I realized that I had something that the world needs, and only I can give it to them, but first, I had to give it to me.

TOOL #1 Self Care Is The Best Care, and it starts with self-awareness.
Self-awareness is a lifelong tool we should all strive towards developing. It is a hard pill to swallow when you closely look in a full-length mirror. What I am saying is at times, it can be difficult looking in the mirror at you. You may not be satisfied with what you see. When you stand in front of a full-length mirror, it is a visual replica of self. Every crook and nanny is shown. How your clothes fit, and how your hair is styled. if your shoes match your outfit all come alive to your eyes. You get the opportunity to recognize how heavy you appear, how thin your body frame is, if your make-up needs refreshing. The list is endless. Oh how there was a time that a full-length mirror was taboo to me. I did not want to see my physical self. There were a few jelly back rolls hahahah, a small protruding stomach, oh my, I cannot leave out my poor neck (yikes). The truth be told. I did not want to see my reflection.
What about discovering the need to see beyond your inward appearance? How about being willing to see every flaw, every short-coming, and every self-invented obstacle. This moment of truth may lead you down a path of suppressed and repressed feeling lying dormant on the inside. There was a time that yours truly did not want to become acquainted with my flaws, I did not want to spot my short-comings, I did not want to be aware of my self-created hurdles. In my heart, I already knew that I would not be a happy camper. Often, it was very easy for me to fix the lives of others. I could give the best advice, resolve issues, and men broken-hearts. I spent countless hours empowering the minds that negativity had infiltrated. All of these tools were my specialty to rescue others. Cris can save the world but not herself. I compare it to editing a book or an assignment. if you were like me, I can edit the heck out of someone else's work, but when it comes to my work, I rarely notice an error. Needless to say, errors are starring me right in both my brown eyes. Visualize a child who has scraped his or her finger. He or she comes crying to you showing you the booboo on the finger. You comfort the child by kissing the sore and assure him or her that the kiss made the booboo finger all better. Unfortunately, it will take more than a kiss on a booboo finger to make things better.

After spending what seemed to be a lifetime helping, encouraging, and empowering others, I failed to see the need to do all these things for me. I could not climb out, there was no one to pull me out, and there were no tool to help me get out. .  I sat on the side of my bed wondering how in the world am I going to get out of this ditch? It soon dawned on me that It was impossible. However, it was not impossible to bring change in my life. i looked in the mirror and said "Cris,  do this for you, empower yourself."  I invite you to come on this self-empowerment journey with me, and discover the tools that will bring self-awareness, enlightenment, and rejuvenation to your life.  Ready, Set, Let's Go!
